What's special about GridMap

Two things make GridMap special, compared to other ranking/rating systems. One is visual presentation, the other is accuracy. The firt is presentation. GridMap's display is a two dimensional grid, rather than a simple list. This presentation provides a clear, visual display of each team's relative position among teams in its own conference, as well as among all teams nationally. It also displays the interconnecting threads (game results) that determine why each team is positioned where they are. The second is accuracy. For the 2005 and 2006 seasons, GridMap has had the best or second best accuracy of any of the more than 100 ranking/rating systems listed on the web site “"College Football Ranking Comparison"”, published by Ken Massey, whose own computer ranking system is one of the six used in the BCS formula. And not only was GridMap one of the two most accurate in those years, but was also more than twice as accurate as the average for all systems, with just 3 systems within even 50% of GridMap's accuracy! ref: ref: ref:
